Zeenat Aman Reveals She Would Have Loved To Play Priyanka Chopra’s Part In THIS Film: ‘It Was A Complex Role…’

Zeenat Aman revealed that one particular character played by Priyanka Chopra piqued her interest, and that she would have loved to play the part during her time.

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently interacted with her fans during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session. She shared about her upcoming projects, past films, and more during the interaction. One fan wanted to know if, while watching recent Bollywood films, Zeenat Aman ever felt that she would have aced a particular role during her time. In response, the actress said that she would have loved the chance to play Priyanka Chopra’s character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2015 film Bajirao Mastani.
During the Reddit AMA session, a fan asked, “Hello Ma’am ! My question is ‘While watching the recent bollywood films have you ever felt that I would have nailed this role in my time?’” Zeenat Aman replied that she isn’t sure whether she would have nailed it, but she would have loved to play Priyanka Chopra’s role in Bajirao Mastani as it intrigued her. “I don’t know whether I would have nailed it, but I would have loved the chance to play Priyanka Chopra’s character in Bajirao Mastani. It was a complex role that piqued my interest,” she replied. For the unversed, Priyanka Chopra played the role of Kashibai, Bajirao’s first wife in the epic historical tragedy film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Meanwhile, another fan asked Zeenat Aman, “Among all the iconic roles that you have played, which one felt the most like “you” in real life?” She replied, “I absolutely loved my character Nisha from Manoranjan. High energy and full of joie de vivre.” She was also asked about the difference in the film industry now and during the 1970s. “I know people like to criticise the Hindi film industry and much of it is valid. But I think a major and positive improvement I see is that there are women at every rung of the process pulling their weight and claiming their place with competence. In my time it wasn’t unusual to be the only woman on set! So this is a striking difference to me,” she replied.
On the professional front, Zeenat Aman will next be seen in Faraz Arif Ansari’s ‘Bun Tikki’, co-starring Abhay Deol, Shabana Azmi. She will also be seen in Netflix’s modern-day Indian royalty rom-com series ‘The Royals’, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter.
