Bengaluru residents are expressing their frustration over the city’s deteriorating roads. A viral video on social media shows locals protesting on the streets, holding placards to demand action from authorities. As India’s leading tech hub, Bengaluru attracts countless IT and engineering professionals each year. However, with rising traffic congestion, daily commuters are increasingly exasperated by the poor infrastructure.
The video, shared on X by Citizen Movements East Bengaluru, highlights these concerns. “Bengaluru isn’t just the ‘Silicon Valley of India’—it’s the ‘Silicon Valley of the world.’ This isn’t how a global tech hub should function. Techies shouldn’t have to protest for better roads,” the post read.
The clip grabbed the eyeballs of many Bengalureans who expressed gratitude to the people for their efforts to call for urgent actions. “I would have participated as well. I drive on this road twice a day. It’s famous for being terrible.” “Even god can’t save Bengaluru, but appreciate your efforts and hope,” added another.
Shedding light on their daily hustle, an individual said, “We are the losers always, whoever wins any political party, suffering is for the public. The stress of scorching heat, traffic moving slowly, vehicles getting damaged, and the stress we are facing.”
Echoing the same sentiment, a user commented, “Seriously, it’s time to block the roads all across Whitefield and outer ring rd. So much tax in the form of stamp duty, corporation tax, GST, road tax is being collected, where is it being spent? The government has to be accountable for the spending. It’s public money.”
A person expressed concerns over the future of Bengaluru, saying, “It is on the global map due to MNC presence, startups, and talent pool. MNCs have learned that return on investment in Bangalore is no longer lucrative. It’s just a matter of time before they leave.” The viral footage has collected more than 34,000 views on the X platform.
