Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad lavished praise on star India batter Virat Kohli, saying that no one will be able to replicate the latter’s feats in international cricket after he pulled off another masterful chase in the Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia.

Kohli didn’t finish the chase for once, but his measured 84-run innings steered India into their fifth Champions Trophy final with a clinical four-wicket victory over Australia.

Shahzad, who has been an admirer of Kohli for long, lauded the star India batter for another brilliant innings that took India into the final of the Champions Trophy.

“He has scored 8000 runs in chases. There are a lot of players in India, but there is no one like Virat Kohli. Just like Aamir says, just like Ronaldo is in Football, Kohli is in cricket. I haven’t seen a player like him in my generation,” Shahzad said while speaking on a Pakistani TV show.

“The day he leaves, India will appreciate his contributions more. The way he has served his country and carried the expectations of billions of people on his shoulders is incredible,” Shahzad added. Watch the video here:

The Indian win ensures that the final of the Champions Trophy will now be held in Dubai instead of Lahore, the original host of the marquee clash, as Rohit Sharma’s men will not travel there due to security concerns.

Player of the match Kohli was the fulcrum of Indian batting as they scaled down 265 in the penultimate over after Australia skipper Steve Smith and Alex Carey led the Australians to 264.

India will await the winner of the second semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand in Lahore on Wednesday.

Not just Shahzad, but Rohit too lavished rich praise on Kohli for anchoring yet another successful chase.

“He has done it for us for so many years. We were very calm. We wanted that big stand that Shreyas and Virat had. Then the shots by Hardik in the end were very important,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
