Rihanna, the global pop sensation and entrepreneur, chose to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day in the most heartfelt way. She marked the occasion by honouring her motherhood journey. Taking to Instagram on March 8, the proud mother of two delighted her fans by sharing never-before-seen glimpses of herself cradling her newborn sons right after giving birth.
The pictures showcased the actor-singer inside a delivery room with her now two-year-old RZA and the 19-month-old Riot Rose as infants in her arms. “By far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman…my little miracles! #InternationalWomensDay,” Rihanna wrote in the caption of the post, mentioning that the first picture is of her elder son, who was born in 2022, and the second one is that of her younger one, whom she welcomed in 2023.
While many resonated with the emotional depth behind the post, her fans could not help but praise her signature flair in the post. In true Bad Gal Ri Ri fashion, the 37-year-old singer made a statement with her look, even in the delivery room. When she welcomed her first son, RZA, Rihanna opted for gold and pearl necklaces while she gave birth to Riot, sporting a pair of cool pink sunglasses.
In the caption, she wrote, “And yes, I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening.” Her post immediately went viral on social media, with fans and celebrities flooding the comment section, praising her iconic delivery moments.
One fan said, “Yes to the giving birth in pearls, Queen mother.” Another added, “Only you can make giving birth look THIS damn good.”
“Giving birth in pearls and sunglasses is so Rihanna coded,” wrote a different user. Someone else joked, “If you don’t give birth in sunglasses and pearls, are you even Rihanna?”
A few weeks back, the 37-year-old singer-turned-businesswoman spoke about the emotional struggles of being a working mother in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Every decision I make revolves around them, but everything that I do that I love robs me from them. So, I have a weird resentment with the things that I love. You almost feel like something is always suffering for you to show up somewhere,” she admitted.
Rihanna shares her two sons with her partner ASAP Rocky, whom she has been with since 2020.
