Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has launched her much-awaited lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan—which was previously postponed due to the California wildfires. With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix on March 4, with all eight episodes now streaming on the platform. Shot at a Montecito property, Markle invited many high-profile guests to join her for the show, including her friend and actor-producer Mindy Kaling. In one of the episodes, Markle got into an interesting conversation with Kaling, only to find herself reminding the latter about her royal title.

At one moment when the duo were making cucumber sandwiches for a children’s party, Mindy Kaling continued referring to Markle by her name—which the duchess no longer goes by. In an immediate correction, the Suits actor said, “It’s so funny too that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now. Further in the conversation, she also spoke about the importance of her family name and sharing it with her children, explaining that having kids made her realise how meaningful it would be to share it with them. “But it just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name,'” she added.

“Quite obvious. It’s Meghan who needs the RF connection, not the other way around. When CORRECTING MindyKaling on calling her Meghan Markle, she insisted on being addressed by her courtesy title – the one she worked a whole 73 days for!!!” a comment read. One of the users added, “In the second episode (which features Mindy Kaling of all people), she shoehorns in a bit about how she’s “Meghan Sussex” now instead of “Meghan Markle” which is hilarious because she married into a family which famously doesn’t use last names.”

Another one remarked, “This is BEYOND cringe! Her acting is TERRIBLE and her correcting Mindy is so petty, I can’t even.”

Meghan Markle got married to Prince Harry in May 2018 when she was given the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their children, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in May 2018 and were given the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth. However, it was in 2020 that they announced stepping back as senior members of the royal family.
