A video of an IRCTC staffer emptying an overflowing dustbin was shared on social media with a text overlay, “Who is responsible?” The video shows the staffer tossing garbage onto the tracks from a moving train as onlookers urge him to stop. He ignores them all, and, at one point, even justifies his actions by claiming there’s nowhere else to dispose of it.

After the video went viral, Indian Railways took note of the incident and requested the train’s PNR details for further action.

What does the viral video reveal?

“A senior IRCTC official throws garbage right from a moving train despite warnings. Scary to even imagine,” reads the caption to the video shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The video opens with a man saying, “Look at this man casually dumping trash onto the tracks,” as the video shows the railway staffer opening the door of the train and flinging disposable plates from the moving train onto the tracks. He walks back, grabs another handful of waste, and tosses it out. And then, yet again.

When a passenger questions him, “Then why even bother placing a dustbin here?” the staffer remains quiet. He simply continues the drill – pulling garbage out of the bin and flinging it onto the tracks, as if it were part of his job description.

“Here’s an Indian Railways senior staffer at work dumping trash straight onto the tracks. Just look at this…,” says another passenger as the staffer goes about his task unfazed, doing what he seems to do best – littering.

After emptying the dustbin onto the tracks, he casually shrugs and says, “It was full. Where else should we empty it?”

Railway Seva, official X account for support to Railway passengers, dropped a response on video, stating, “We request you to please share the journey details (PNR/UTS No.), Train No., Date of incidence and Mobile No. with us preferably via DM so that immediate action can be taken on your complaint.”

“You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal,” it added.
