WWE star AJ Styles appears to have already set his retirement plans. It might be a tough call for the veteran wrestler who has achieved tremendous success during his illustrious career spanning several decades. At the age of 47, Styles has already established himself as one of the greatest superstars of the 21st century. During a recent interaction with Chris Van Vliet, Styles was reminded of being the opponent of The Undertaker in his last match in 2020. The Deadman has already hung up his boots and has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Meanwhile, Styles continues to feature on Monday Night RAW. He is likely to appear at WrestleMania 41 as well. When asked about the longevity of his career, Styles admitted that he had thought of retiring, but it would be hard to part ways with WWE.
“I’ve thought about it a lot, much more than I should have. I should have known what I was doing by now. But it’s so hard because you enjoy it so much and I enjoy being around my friends. Don’t get me wrong, I love being at home, but the opportunity to see them and see them doing well, seeing them smile, and seeing them grow,” Syles said on the ‘Insight with Chris Van Vliet’ podcast.
“Some of these guys like Roman for instance, his selling is on a different level. Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, all these guys, they stepped up. If Roman stepped up, they stepped up with him. I just thought that was so impressive that they do that, and seeing them grow into these amazing Superstars,” he added.
Styles further revealed that he would end his wrestling career before turning 50. “That’s correct. I keep saying that. I’ve said this and said this, but I will not wrestle at 50, I promise you that,” he told Van Vliet.
Styles has been advertised for the next episode of WWE RAW, slated to be premiered on Netflix on March 10. The Phenomenal One will call out Logan Paul for a fight on the weekly show. The duo may also face at the upcoming WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
