A 35-year-old chef from Dacorum, Hertfordshire, England named Ashley Robinson ignored his seriously deteriorating health symptoms as stress from planning his wedding. He started to pass blood and had major stomach problems, but doctors told him it was nothing serious.

According to The Sun, Ashley Robinson decided to concentrate on his impending wedding when his general practitioner advised that his health condition would probably be resolved in a week.

While organising an extravagant wedding for his now-wife, Jasmin, Ashley Robinson was working more than sixty hours a week. The wedding took place on July 20, 2024, at Pendley Manor. But in the weeks after the ceremony, Ashley’s health quickly declined. He struggled to secure an appointment with another doctor after losing 12 kg in just seven days. After his worries were continually written off as unimportant, Jasmin adamantly demanded that he be seen.

Ashley Robinson received heartbreaking news after finally being referred for a colonoscopy. An orange-sized tumour was found in his colon by medical professionals. He already had stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver, according to a biopsy. The couple was devastated by the diagnosis.

Ashley Robinson started immunotherapy treatment right away, and he was surprised by the amazing outcomes. “I couldn’t believe it. I never thought they were going to say that it had shrunk by 90 per cent; it was incredible,” he told The Sun. The progress even astounded his oncologist.

Even though he is responding well to treatment, Ashley Robinson is still upset by the first incorrect diagnosis. He thinks his liver might not have been affected if his cancer had been discovered sooner. “At the time, it was obviously earth-shattering news, but now that I’m on the mend, it’s very frustrating,” he further said. “I was 34 at the time, so I know when something’s not right. You know your own body,” he also stated.

Reportedly, several medical professionals have reacted to this news, stressing the value of patients speaking up for their own health. A Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board spokesperson encouraged anyone experiencing ongoing symptoms to consult a doctor and follow up if issues are not resolved.

Ashley Robinson received an apology from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust for his ordeal, and they encouraged him to speak with them directly about his concerns. Ashley is still receiving immunotherapy and is optimistic that his routine checkups will continue to show encouraging results.
